DON’T SHOOT YOUR FUTURE IN THE FOOT

Winston Churchill was asked if he thought history would be kind to him.

He answered, “Of course history will be kind to me for I intend to write it.”

I love the boldness of that statement. I love the optimism for the future.

When life gives us a raw deal, when we are treated unfairly, or we when we make a total mess out of things, the temptation is to set up shop in the rubble of our life.

I beg you not to do that.

When we play the victim card we give up all our power. When we allow our wounds (no matter how deep they are) to paralyze us from embracing our future, we become slaves to our past.

Its sad but I know too many people who shoot their futures in the foot with every negative step they take.

As People of the Second Chance, never forget you get the incredible privilege to write your own history. So start writing it.

So true. I have recently learned to embrace the “misdeals”, failures, and false starts in my life. I would use them to “set up shop” in the rubble. Buy more recently, I have discovered a new sense of confidence that actually comes and is fed by the rubble. Great thoughts guys.

This is very inspiring….
the chance to partake in human history is daunting but is something that I think is very important.
I have been thinking about this for a little while now. Would I rather have a effect for the next 2 years or the next 20 years. This drives me to leave a lasting effect over time instead of momentary

@kyle great thoughts. the temptation is to let our lives get stuck in the now instead of imagining our future.

@sam awesome..i love that “confidence” can come through the rubble..so true

@jim ive shot myself a few times too :)

Great reminder/encouragement. Sometimes it’s hardest to give OURSELVES a second chance.
