GOOGLE VOICE AND HEARING PEOPLE

So Jud left me a voicemail yesterday. Google Voice transcribed it for me. I laughed when I read some of the message.

The rest of it? Who knows? Anyways, you get the point. GOOGLE VOICE ISN’T LISTENING VERY WELL!

One of the most loving things we can do for people is listen. And to really hear them.

Let’s avoid being a “Google Voice” to those who trust us with their words, feelings, and their story.

So are you a good listener? How are you at remembering people’s names?

FACE IN A HOLE

FaceInHole.com is a website that lets you drop your face onto someone else’s body.

Imagine having Arnold Schwarzenegger’s buffed up biceps or have Pamela Anderson’s bikini body assets. I know, it’s a dream come true for some of you. (sarcasm)

Maybe you want to look like a Hulk Hogan or be Taylor Lautner? Just find their photo and drop your face in the hole!

So this got me thinking. This FACE IN A HOLE exercise could really help us be People of the Second Chance.

Maybe before we rip, criticize, and ridicule…

Perhaps when we feel the need to trash, gossip, and humiliate…

Or when we just can’t help ourselves from mocking, slamming, or disrespecting someone…

We should put our face on their face…and realize they are just like us and we are just like them.

So when we feel like judging someone…do a FACE IN A HOLE.

SEX TRAFFICKING AND SHE DANCES

I’ve asked Julie Belle to guest post today about an amazing organization that she works with called She Dances.

I remember the first time I learned about sex trafficking. I was 17, and I felt fully debilitated.

I admit I tried to avoid the issue, not knowing what to do about it until last year, when She Dances (founded by Jeremy and Nedra Springer) emerged, full of hope to restore girls, one at a time, who have been rescued from sex trafficking.

Before I knew it, I had been recruited by She Dances, and found myself on a terrace on a rainy day in LA—there we sat; a couple board members, and Jeremy and Nedra, working one step at a time to open a safe home in Honduras.

Our safe home will house six girls 11-19 years old, where they’ll have the opportunity to heal through one-on-one and group therapy sessions, therapeutic activities like gardening, art, and jewelry making, plus they’ll learn everyday skills like cooking and doing laundry.

We’re excited to say we found the perfect home in Tegucigalpa, hired staff and therapists for the house, moved furniture in, and are now trying to finish fundraising to open the home this August.

We’re in the final days of our 200/20 Campaign—200 people committing to $20 monthly will fully fund the home for a year (we need 88 more people).

Together we can give these girls a second chance at life!

My favorite firework is the spinning flowers that go WHHHHHHHIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZ and bounce all over the street.

I also like waving around sparklers.

And your favorite 4th of July explosive device is? And are fireworks legal or illegal where you live?
