STRIPPERS PROTEST AND BIKINIS AT CHURCH

Posted by Mike Foster:
So for the last four years members of New Beginnings Ministries have been protesting at the Foxhole strip joint. Every weekend they voice their disapproval and videotape license plates of the bar’s patrons and then post that info online.
So now the ladies from the Foxhole decided to flip the tables on the churchgoers. Wearing bikinis and cooling each other down with Super Soakers, they grilled up burgers in front of the church during this weekend’s Sunday services. They held signs that said, “Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing.”
The pastor says about the strippers, “This has just made us stronger.”
A Foxhole strippers says, “They(the church) say we’re homewreckers and whores. The fact of the matter is, we’re working to keep our own homes together, to give our kids what they need.”
I’m surprised that this kind of stuff still actually happen these days. The energy, time, and resources that are dedicated to this type of protest just seems…well…stupid! It divides, demonizes, and hurts people.
What this situation needs is a big ‘ole infusion of grace.
So may I suggest the strippers and the pastor all go out for a nice evening at Applebee’s, order up some Potato Twisters, and get to know each other. And listen guys, if you do this, I will personally pick up the bill.
SO WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OR IDEAS?
SELF IS OUR METH. LETS GO TO REHAB

Posted by Mike Foster:
Judgment is driven by self. When we judge people we bring OUR prejudices, OUR upbringing, OUR values, OUR set of rules, and even our own failures to the equation. To think that we can divorce ourself of these facts is naive.
As People of the Second Chance we need to rip self out of the formula. We need to completely abandon the control. We need to accept the fact that our human judgment is polluted and impartial.
But this won’t be easy.
Why? Because self is our meth…our heroin…our drug of choice…and we can’t operate without it. Think of what it is like for a addict to come off of meth. Or for a smoker to quit nicotine after 30 years. The withdrawal from self will be that painful.
But if you can survive rehab, you will be clean, and truly be able to see people as they are.
DANG! I WISH I COULD WRITE POSTS LIKE THIS!

Jon Acuff is one of the best dudes I know.
It’s posts like this one that he wrote on Mel Gibson that just make me smile.
Also, I’ve got to find a way to recruit him for the POTSC SWAT team so he can bust through windows with us.
Jon, you’re my hero!

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO M. NIGHT?

Posted by Mike Foster:
I loved “The Sixth Sense!” I really liked “Unbreakable.”
So what in the heck has happened to M. Night Shyamalan?
I saw the trailer for “The Last Airbender” a few months ago and the I immediately whispered to myself, “That looks stupid.” Apparently the critics and millions of moviegoers agreed.
It looks like the moon might be setting on M. Night’s career in Hollywood. And I’m just baffled by this horribleness. I think the above chart says it all!
Last week I saw “Despicable Me” and loved it. “Inception” is the best movie of the year IMHO. And SALT just came out in Bangkok so I might check that out this week.
So what movies have you loved or hated this summer? Any recommendations?
And if you know why M. Night makes totally sucky movies now, please let me know!
