THE STUFF THAT HURTS IS THE STUFF THAT STICKS
Posted by Mike Foster:
I’ve got A LOT to learn. And you probably do to.
But here’s the problem:
THE STUFF THAT HURTS IS THE STUFF THAT STICKS.
It is through my pain and mistakes that I actually retain anything. I hate this but it seems to be the only place where my arrogant and self assured self can learn. All other learning methods are doubtful or short term in nature.
But pain is a different sort of teacher. It’s very hard to forget the lessons that she teaches. She is cruel and unrelenting but at least I walk away with something that made me stronger.
And whether I liked the process or not, it sticks.

This video demonstrates how we all deal with frustration, doubts, and disappointment. This is from a series we did at Central on the life of Job.

OUR SLIDING SCALE OF GRACE

Just let the pictures sink in. Let them punch you in throat like it did me.
And then let us look inside ourselves and discover our double standards, prejudices, and hypocrisy about who we show grace and concern for.
Injustice is sill injustice no matter who you are or what you’ve done.
PEOPLE OF THE ZERO CHANCE

Posted by Mike Foster:
As both Jud and I work through our anger, frustration, and revenge issues from the Chargers/Cowboys loss yesterday, Sarah’s post seems so appropriate.
Check out this incredible letter about second chances that Sarah wrote over at her blog.
Sarah writes…
Dear Mike and Jud (my friends at POTSC.com),
Confession.
I eagerly joined People of the Second Chance, but…you should know…sometimes I am a Person of the Zero Chance.
Btw, Sarah has a new book coming out called Picking Dandelions that is a “must” read.
HAITI RELIEF AND COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL
Posted by Mike Foster and Jud Wilhite:
Part of being People of the Second Chance is that we actively help those who are in need.
Right now their is a CLEAR need in Haiti. Without question there is a huge crisis for a nation that was ALREADY in brutal turmoil.
One of our favorite organizations is Compassion International.
Both of us have seen Compassion’s work first hand and they have set up a way that you can give to help the people in Haiti. You can give with absolute confidence knowing your dollars are going to help those in desperate need.
Let’s step up! YOU CAN DONATE HERE.
