THE COURAGE TO FOLLOW YOUR HEART

In 2005, just a year after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, 49-year-old Steve Jobs told Stanford’s graduating class this:

“Your time is limited, do don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”

I read that tonight, on a warm evening, overlooking downtown Bangkok, right in the midst of following my heart. And let me tell you, Steve is 1000% right.

So are you following your heart? Or is the noise of others’ opinions drowning out what you truly want to become?

A POTSC CAR CRASH PHOTO

Kyle Stickens, who is part of the POTSC community, sent me the above photo.

His friend was in an auto accident this week and was apparently rear ended. That’s the bad news.

Now the good news. The driver smashed into the POTSC sticker which gave an opportunity for Kyle’s friend to share with them about People of the Second Chance.

It seems so perfect that in this crash, grace was right in the middle of all of it! Both for the cars…and the drivers.

THE BIG D

disatisfied
Posted by Mike Foster:

Each one of us has some level of it inside of us. It’s called DISSATISFACTION.

Sometimes dissatisfaction is good. For example we say, “I’m dissatisfied with the way this (fill in the blank) is being done and I’m going to do something about it.” The big D becomes a force for change!

But too often dissatisfaction becomes a nag and drain on our life. For example we say, “I don’t like my body, the amount of money I make, or my wardrobe.” And these things can really zap our joy.

Right now, I’m dissatisfied with American economy, the amount of gray hair I’m getting, and the pace of progress in my own life.

We all probably have something we don’t like. So what about you?

POTSC is working on improving and growing our Facebook page. We have a goal of 10,000 members and are currently at 8200.

IF YOU’RE A SECOND CHANCER, WE COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP! It’s super simple and would mean a lot to us!

Two different ways you can help us:

1. Type a message sharing about POTSC in your status update and then use the @People of the Second Chance. Facebook will recognize it and then tag it to our page.

2. Or you can use “Suggest to Friends.” (See pic above)

CLICK HERE TO INVITE FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK.

As a way to say thanks for inviting your friends we are giving away a bunch of Starbucks cards in the amounts of $5, $10, and $25 bucks. It’s just a small way for us to say thanks and that we love you!

HERE IS HOW YOU COULD WIN A CARD:

1. Invite your FB friends by clicking on “Suggest To Friends” underneath the People of the Second Chance logo. (See above pic)

2. Then post YOUR NAME and the TOTAL NUMBER OF FRIENDS you invited on the POTSC Facebook wall.

3. We will randomly choose names from the wall and sending you the Starbucks cards. We will do this till next Wednesday.

Thanks so much for your support and love!

INTERVIEW WITH BRAD LOMENICK

This is Part Two of an interview I did with Brad Lomenick from Catalyst. We discuss our “throw in the towel” job plans and the importance of grace.

Btw, we recorded this while I was spending the night at Jud’s house. He did an interview two weeks before so we now have the same background. Kind of funny!
