disatisfied
Posted by Mike Foster:

Each one of us has some level of it inside of us. It’s called DISSATISFACTION.

Sometimes dissatisfaction is good. For example we say, “I’m dissatisfied with the way this (fill in the blank) is being done and I’m going to do something about it.” The big D becomes a force for change!

But too often dissatisfaction becomes a nag and drain on our life. For example we say, “I don’t like my body, the amount of money I make, or my wardrobe.” And these things can really zap our joy.

Right now, I’m dissatisfied with American economy, the amount of gray hair I’m getting, and the pace of progress in my own life.

We all probably have something we don’t like. So what about you?

I just came out of a season of pretty intense dissatisfaction with just about every aspect of my life. I let it defeat me and was on the brink of doing some pretty stupid things.

The Lord really brought me through it and I'm learning to stop striving for things to turn out how I planned them. That's were the root of my dissatisfaction was coming from (life, relationships, job, faith). I'm learning to rest in Him for real and put my junk on Him rather than trying to fix my situation. It sounds pretty basic but I think I'm finally figuring it out.

I'm finally finding my satisfaction in just being a son.

I'm bummed that I keep pouring money into a car I can't afford to.replace outright.

I'm also bummed that our nation is so polarized. Propositions, mosques, amendments, fences. All bummers.

Funny, the big d has come up a lot in my studies recently. Specifically, the right way to be dissatisfied is 1) take it to god (psalm 123) and 2) continue doing his work thru it (psalm 126)

    Thanks for the post!

This is like opening up pandoras box…so I will keep it short.
I am dissatisfied with my story, time to live a story instead of waiting for it to be written.

I spent several years in deep dissatisfaction with the church due to experiencing spiritual abuse and finding little help in recovering. My faith failed and I hit bottom before I understood that His grace is sufficient and my weaknesses reveal His power. I still can become dissatisfied with how we (myself included) live out our beliefs. After years of living under shame it is easy to be dissatisfied with myself. The things I want to be known for (love, grace, faith, compassion, justice) still don't come easily.

I'm Dissatisfied with where I am financially at 30 years old. Although, I feel like God and family are my main priorities, I'm still down in the dumps when it comes to being and feeling like a strong providing husband and one day father. We are currently downsizing and cutting back in HUGE ways(for a second time). The first 3 years of our marriage have been all about just getting by… just worn out from it, ya know?

thanks for sharing sherie…i would think anger would be another emotion that you have had to wrestle with in the midst of this situation?…any type of abuse can really mess up our views on things…i love that you are pursuing love, grace, faith, compassion and justice!…very inspiring!

i'm dissatisfied that there are so many “open 24/7 massage parlors” in my state with huge billboards along the major highways and no one seems to be noticing or doing anything about it. what's going on in there? prostitution? human trafficking? i'm dissatisfied that we drive by these places all the time and never consider that there might be a girl inside who needs our help!

i'm dissatisfied that i notice every billboard everytime and i don't know what to do about it…

I never really felt anger, just great pain and a lot of blame. Abuse is very complex, and it can affect your whole understanding of life. I didn't understand grace and felt like there were no second chances in my situation. After all, what's left when you fail God. I am SO thrilled to report I was wrong!

Good word! I'm totally with you on the car thing…Junky Car Club beats Fancy Car I Can't Afford to impress people I don't like club!

  • http://twitter.com/MikeFoster mike foster

im with ya on that…a good thing to be dissatisfied about…btw, i would notify authorities and see what they say…perhaps they could respond and at least see what the hecks going on…speaking up about injustice is always a good way to fight our dissatisfaction…

@Mike The tension between the way the world is and the way the world could be is where the greatest visions are born. I love the idea of letting dissatisfaction be our fuel.
