First off, thanks to all those who have been posting their reviews on Amazon. YOU ROCK!

I probably shouldn’t say this. I think this next statement will have a cost. But I’m about full disclosure here.

So let’s start with the hard stuff….you ready?….Here it is…I DON’T WRITE CHRISTIAN BOOKS.

You see for the past 10 years my passion and calling has been a little different then most. I’ve always focused on the fringe, not the fold. Nothing wrong with either focus, I just made that choice.

GRACENOMICS is not just for Christians. Or for Atheists or Muslims for that matter. I create stuff for people regardless of where they are on their faith journey.

My focus is on starting a dialogue. And I just know religion, politics and Justin Bieber can slam doors really quick with people.

So I hope that doesn’t disappoint you. But I just wanted to be honest about where I’m coming from.

But before you walk away disillusioned with me and wondering if I still love God, let me say this.

I DO BELIEVE THIS GRACE MANIFESTO COULD REVOLUTIONIZE HOW WE LIVE OUT OUR FAITH.

As I wrote it, a big prayer of mine was that Jesus followers would read it…and then do what it says.

And lets be honest…when the majority of our culture sees us as judgmental, anti-homosexual, bigoted, sheltered and hypocritical, WE NEED AN INFUSION OF GRACENOMICS!

SO WHO DID I WRITE THIS BOOK FOR?

All kinds of people with all kinds of backgrounds.

Business people. Leaders. Small Groups. Divorcees. Addicts. Moms and Dads. Fast Paced Entrepreneurs. People who are frightened. The failed. The super successful. The hypocrites and grace killers.

I wrote it in an accessible way where you could easily give it to your friends and co-workers. And then talk with them about grace.

GRACENOMICS is for social justice advocates who realize something has gone horribly wrong in how we treat each other…and now they want to do something about it.

I wrote it so groups and staffs could talk about hard things and create a grace culture. Perhaps then they could be more honest, forgiving and transparent with each other.

I wrote it for you. I wrote it for me. I wrote it so that we could actually live out being People of the Second Chance. That’s the point.

OK, so GRACENOMICS isn’t a Christian book. But I will admit, I did steal a lot of that carpenter from Nazareth’s ideas.

Can we still be friends?

    Mike,
I am so diggin’ the movement of radical grace on the fringe. Yes, it is for everyone, just as a carpenter in Nazareth did not bring Christianity but a radical view of Judaism.

I am going back a bit and rereading one of my favorite books. I first read it in 9th grade and am so amazed at how much relevance it has to today. And Harper Lee did not write it for Christians although it is about Christians.
It is To Kill A Mockingbird and in this exchange, Atticus and Scout are having a conversation about why she was fighting. (I am placing an ‘x’ for a derogatory term… x today could be anything…)

“Scout,” said Atticus, “x-lover is just one of those terms that don’t mean anything-like snot-nose. It’s hard to explain—ignorant, trashy people use it when they think somebody’s favoring x’s over and above themselves. It’s slipped into usage with some people like ourselves, when they want a common, ugly term to label somebody.”

“You aren’t really an x-lover, then, are you?”

“I certainly am. I do my best to love everybody… I’m hard put, sometimes—baby, it’s never an insult to be called what somebody thinks is a bad name…”

I struggle with doing the opposite like Atticus did. In our society, when the waves of the masses are ‘x-haters,’ how do I speak up and say I love everybody… It’s just something we have to do. It’s not going to be easy, but I’m with you. And I can’t wait to read your book…

Authenticity. I trust your motives and your perspective because you are open and transparent. Thanks for being such a great example.

I can’ t wait to read it! The thought that there is a new book that I can give to my “non-christian” friends that talks about the love and grace of God, written in a language they will understand, makes me happy!!
Thanks for being true to yourself and us, that’s why we love you!!

Mike, thanks for creating space for people to open up dialogue through Gracenomics, instead of polarizing the human experience like we so often do through our language and fear of being perceived as wrong, liberal, conservative etc.

Thanks for opening up the human dialogue through Gracenomics. I am glad it is not a christian book, we need more action in the world like what you are doing. I am listening, I am learning and I will soon be joining Radical Grace of Life and Leadership.

Mike, I love that you have shaped it and POTSC around speaking a language and expressing a message that includes and invites instead of separates. As part of a church plant I think about this alot. Too often as Christians we invite others in instead of going out to them and being part of their lives. I want to live a life that is about reaching out, sharing, dialoguing, opening, including, forgiving, loving, and giving grace. My schedule hasn’t let me get the book yet, but I will. I am thankful for it, for you, for the POTSC community, and for freedom to discuss grace, struggle, and how it fits into our lives every moment of every day.

you gotta know who you are and where you are so you can know how to touch folks’ hearts wherever they may be. Love that you are being transparent about who you are as you write / wrote this.

God created all of us to be “where/who” we are… so let’s be there!

Love it. Grace is a point of living that should be instilled to give by all. Love your thoughts and passion Mike!

So we did right if we wanted to buy a non-christian book? Just joking.
I’m taking my time to read it and I find it really graceful and grace-oriented.
And that’s why I took Gracenomics: to know more about grace.
Because grace is what we need, even though we may not know that, already.
I only wish there will be a future Italian translation.. maybe you will give me the permission ;)
