Crossing the street in Hanoi, Vietnam is an experience. Just watch me demonstrate in this video.

Cars don’t stop. Taxis don’t stop. Buses don’t stop. And the 5000 mopeds coming at you don’t stop.

So you could stand on the side of the street and wait. And wait. And wait. Hoping that their might be a good time to cross the to the other side.

If that’s your strategy…you will be waiting a long time.

The key to crossing to the other side is:
1. STEP OUT INTO THE STREET
2. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE OBSTACLES COMING AT YOU
3. DON’T LOOK BACK
4. CELEBRATE WHEN YOU GET TO THE OTHER SIDE

This is a simple strategy for crossing the street in Vietnam.

But more importantly….apply these 4 steps when pursuing your big dreams too.

It is time to go for it!

Amen! Often it look worse than it really is too. Fear can really hinder us when we pursue dreams of any kind. Stepping out with that first step is often the path to realizing that “hey I can actually do this!”

    Love that.

    Can I add one maybe?
Learn from others how to cross the street or in this case go after your dream. I can imagine that at first it would be pretty intimidating and even confusing on how to get across the street until you saw others do it. I think the same is true for your dreams. Watching others is encouraging and you can learn from them.

it's not about running blindly, but about walking calculatedly and steadily… and i need to stop being deterred (or paralyzed) by the blaring horns and near-fatal grazings of mopeds…

i will have to admit the first step into the street is the hardest…but once you are there you just keep going…

Reminds me of the trip to Cambodia two months ago. You’re not kidding about the celebrating on the other side.
